Thanks for visiting, and I hope you find useful information here.  I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, in private practice in Sacramento since 1982.   My clients are individual adults, teens, and couples.  We can work with or without hypnosis at your option, however you are comfortable.  You may want to inquire about how hypnosis could help, because it is safe and effective for most people.  Read more by following the link to the left.  You can also read more about me and find a license verification on the menu to the left (on "Links").

For many years I have been teaching classes through The Learning Exchange.  Open to the public, they deal with real concerns class members bring with them on a variety of topics related to self-improvement, personal growth, and relationships.  I have answered untold numbers of questions and am familiar with what people want to know about these subjects and about how they can change their lives for the better.

Periodically I add articles here on weight loss, stopping smoking, sleep improvement, pain control, and stress reduction.  These problems respond especially well to hypnosis and hypnotherapy.  I will also be writing about relationships and about resolving therapy issues that keep us stuck in repetitive patterns for the long term.  If you have an idea for an article, send it to me and I may write and post it here.

As a visit to any bookstore will confirm, the "self-help/psychology" industry is very large and well-funded, with many practitioners and approaches competing for our attention.  Most of it works for someone, somewhere, but is it right for you?  How do you tell?  Information and knowing what to look for helps you decide.

Much progress has been made in the last ten to twenty years in improving the effectiveness of counseling and in shortening the time it takes.  The norm today is "brief therapy," both for cost-effectiveness and for quick results.  If you are thinking about counseling, you can begin the process of informing yourself here.

If there is a topic you would like to discuss or questions you would like to ask me, send me a note through the Contact Me link to the left, or call me.  You aren't bothering me, it's what I do.  I answer my own phone and I'm happy to talk to you.

SPECIAL NOTE:  I know therapy isn't cheap, so I always reserve a few reduced-fee openings for students and limited-income clients.  I also know some other good options in our area you might try for high-quality therapy at lower cost.  If this fits your needs, call me.
